Overview

The Agafay Desert can be reached from Marrakech in just 40 minutes by car. Discover the unique region in south of Marrakech by spending one night in the Agafay desert as part of a two-day journey. You will see so many contrasts in just two days as you travel through the High Atlas, the Kik Plateau, the nearby waterfalls, and the Lalla Takerkoust lake. It is one of the few sites in Morocco where a state of almost complete devastation can be so exquisitely beautiful. What to Expect

Day 1: Marrakech – Tahanouet – Kik Plateau – Takerkoust Dam – Agafay Desert

Leave your Marrakech lodging and head out with your knowledgeable driver to explore the Agafay desert. You have the option to get out and stroll down the trails for a while if you’d like so. On the road you will pass by many Berber communities and a beautiful tiny lake. A camel ride and tea in a Berber village are additional options. The route then turns towards Lalla Takerkoust Lake, a well-liked location for lakeside picnics and eateries providing local food. We’ll eat lunch at a lakeside restaurant which is not included in the price. You’ll travel to the agafay desert later and spend the night there in luxurious tents and have a delicious dinner under the stars.

Day 2: Agafay Desert – Asni – Marrakech

Get up early to see the exquisite dawn, then have a tasty breakfast to begin your day. Following breakfast, you will travel east toward the Kik Plateau, where you will have a short pause for refreshments while taking in the senseric views before continuing on to the village of Moulay Brahim, home to a revered holy shrine. At the base of the Atlas Mountains, the road will lead us to the Asni valley. This day is full of adventures because we will visit an organic argan as an opportunity for you to discover the Berbers family way of life. Then the road continues to Setti Fatma waterfalls where you have a stroll with your guide and discover more about this area. Until arriving in the city in the late afternoon. After an amazing day-long journey from Marrakech that included the desert, mountains, lakes, and villages our driver will drop you off at your accommodation.
