Overview

Spend the day on a guided tour of Fez with an expert driver and local guide. This journey will undoubtedly take in the historical, cultural, and attractive Islamic sites both inside and outside of Fez’s Medina. Don’t be afraid to do something new that you have never done because, believe me, you won’t regret it.

What to Expect

In the morning around 10am our driver will meet you and transport you in an air conditioning vehicle. Start your journey at Bab Boujloud, the elaborate blue gate that leads into the Fez Medina, first. Discover the royal palace gate, which is constructed of tiny pieces of mosaic (zelije) in Moroccan language, copper and marble. Visit the Jewish Quarter, a significant neighborhood where Jews and Moroccans congregate, after that. In order to enjoy the surrounding nature and get some fresh air, you will also go to Jnan Sbil Garden. We still haven’t finished our tour from the outside of Medina, so we’re going to some charming ramparts named Borj nord and Borj sud, where you can get a panoramic perspective.

Our tour inside the Medina will begin firstly by the school of pottery and mosaic. Time for lunch where you will take a break to relax and have a traditional Moroccan lunch (at your own expense). Visit the largest tannery in Africa, Chauara, after lunch. Here, workers create high-quality leather products using only natural processes and dyes. Next, you will tour a number of Islamic institutions, including the university of Al-uarraouine, which doubles as a mosque and has a significant impact on the growth of Fes.

The next stop is a mosque named Bouanania, which was discovered in 1351 AD and is a superb example of Marinid architecture. There are several additional sites to see on our walking tour, including the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum, the Nejjarine Fountain, and the School of Attarine. In every corner of the ancient medina of Fez you will feel like living in the medieval ages and each corner has its own specific story, with us you will never regret discovering new  places. Finally our driver will take you back to the riad to rest.
